Where our luggage data comes from

Maker product pages

We take specs from each maker's own product page, using their US site where they have one:

Tusk is Rocky Mountain ATV/MC's house brand and publishes no catalogue, so we read its specs off the Rocky Mountain listing. When a maker doesn't publish a figure, the table shows a dash. When a maker's own pages contradict each other, we mark the figure unconfirmed and say which pages disagree.

What “waterproof” means here

We sort each maker's claim into waterproof, water resistant or rain cover included. That last one means the bag itself isn't waterproof but ships with a cover that is. The comparison table prints the maker's exact words next to the label, so you can judge the claim yourself. Read them on rackless systems in particular: Giant Loop's Coyote and Great Basin, Kriega's OS packs and the Tusk Excursion get their waterproofing from dry liners inside the bags.

Price and where to buy

The price on each bag is the maker's own list price. The Buy link goes to the bag's Amazon listing where Amazon carries it, and only where we opened that listing and confirmed it's the same bag, capacity and version. Otherwise it goes to RevZilla (opens in a new tab), Rocky Mountain ATV/MC or the maker's own store.
