Routes come from the US DOT scenic byways service (public domain) and OpenStreetMap (ODbL), with designations from FHWA’s America’s Byways; the basemap is OpenFreeMap and the satellite view is USGS The National Map. Other sources include State & city tourism sites.

Every distance is measured along the route itself, so the mileage shown is what your mapping software will report for the GPX you download.

This was purpose-built so you can use it to help stitch together off-road routes and get a better contextual view of the designated scenic roads on your trips.
